Artist in Residence - Irena Pejovic from londonprintstudio on Vimeo.

In my recent prints, I am in search of ways to let go of my full control over the work and bring spontaneity in it. Drawing during dance rehearsals has allowed me to make sketches that transform the body from the actual to its abstract form. By making large brush strokes and using lithography crayon for my drawings, I have created an even greater deal of movement in the print.

"Core", 2012, my newest series of prints, started as 9"x 12" Solar Etching plates and then 30" x 40" Collagraphs combined with Silk Screen, and then the latest — 29" x 70" and 29" x 43" expressive Silk Screen prints. They are lead by my instinct movements, immediate, true feelings, they push yet another boundary in my work and become the beginning of another process of opening up to my work and becoming one with the print. "Core" series are about the gut movement, what the artist feels now, and what the artist does now. It's about that immediate energy, that transforms the print, and it's spontaneous, because it's not controlled, it takes risks, makes mistakes and surprises. Here, I lose the fear, and let the creative process and the experimenting become the print.
